William Mack "Mackey" Wolverton was married three times.
He married first Mary Drucilla Vinson in Robertson County, Texas on December 24, 1889. They divorced in Milam County, Texas on December 01, 1900. They had four children as follows:
1) Walter Snead Wolverton - b. December 23, 1890
2) Daniel Hubert Wolverton - b. September 28, 1892
3) Bertha Lillian Wolverton - b. May 19, 1896
4) William Taylor Wolverton - b. November 1897
He married second to Anna Pradat in New Orleans about 1902. They had been together 8 years at the time of the 1910 Census. The marriage ended about that time. No children and no other records of this marriage.
He married third to Dora Klumpp Pradat in New Orleans on April 02, 1912. She was the widow of William Pradat and sister-in-law of Anna Pradat. They were still together in 1940. They may have divorced between 1940 and his death in 1946. They had one child:
1) William Thomas Wolverton, b. December 23, 1912
Mackey married his first wife Drucilla when both were only 15 years old. They lived in Hearne, Robertson County, Texas where he worked for the H&TC Railroad. He and Drucilla separated in 1897 and he apparently lost his job with the railroad. In 1900 he was living in Galveston where he worked as a day laborer. He and Drucilla divorced on December 1, 1900 and he moved to New Orleans and took a job as a streetcar motorman for the New Orleans Transit Autority. Over the next 35 years he held various positions for the Transit Authority and for the City of New Orleans Police department. These included motorman, inspector, transit security office and an officer in the New Orleans Police Department.
He retired from public service about 1935 and he and Dora bought a house in Lacombe, St Tammany Parish where he was employed in 1940 as a truck driver for a whosesale distribution company.
He died intestate in November 1946 and because of his many marriages and different children, the probate of his estate dragged out over the next 2 years. The children he had with Drucilla in Texas had to obtain birth certificates in Limestone and Robertson Counties, since Texas did not institute state wide birth registration requirements until 1910. To top that off, his second son, Daniel Hubert had dissappeared in 1922 and a certain time was required to search for him; after which, he was declared legally dead by the probate court. Lawyer fees got most of the estate. In 1948 Dan Hubert's daughter Kathryn Gorman received an $87 check as her father's share of the estate. (Her father was finally found alive living in Brooklyn in 1953).

Mary Drucilla "Cilla" Vinson was born in Choctaw County, Alabama in May 1874 to Henry Harrison Vinson and Mary Lucinda Smith. At the age of three she moved with her parents to Port Sullivan, Milam Co., Texas. At the age of 16, she married William Mack "Mackey" WOLVERTON from neighboring Limestone County on December 24, 1889. It was reported by her daughter Bertha that Cilla and Macky eloped and were married in Corsicana with the assistance of Mary's brother, Darius "Dee" VINSON. They initially lived in Ben Hur in Northwest Limestone County where Mack worked for the railroad.
They later moved to Hearne in Robertson County where Mack's railroad work continued. By 1897 Cilla had given birth to two sons and one daughter and was pregnant with her fourth child when Mackey left (or was thrown out). Mary and her 4 children moved in with her parents in Port Sullivan and Mack went to live with a woman in Galveston whom he had apparently been keeping at the end of the RR line since 1892 (according to the 1900 Census record), Their divorce was finalized on December 1, 1900. Mary then married her first cousin, Walter Thomas "Bud" VINSON, about 1901 and they (along with Mary's children) moved to near Edom in Van Zandt County. They had two children born there before they moved to Rankin in Ellis County about 1905.
Bertha recounts the move to Ellis County: "We came in to Rankin along the Bardwell road and when we got to Onion Creek, just below the McCormack hill we found that the creek bottom was flooded and we could not get across to Rankin. Some people living near the north side of the creek put us up for the night and we later made it to Rankin safely." Bertha does not ever remember seeing her father Mack, although he lived in New Orleans and had contact with other family members until he died in 1946.
Mary and second husband W.T. lived east of Rankin along the road toward Grady Cemetery. The abandoned house was still standing in 1990, however, 10 years later it had been raised and no evidence could be seen of it ever being there. Mary had six more children with W.T....all living to adulthood, for a total of 10 children with both spouses. W.T. died in 1918 and Mary continued to live in Rankin until about 1921 when she moved her family to New Orleans when her oldest son Snead found a job there as a streetcar motorman. According to her granddaughter Falsom, she become terminally ill with bone cancer and died in New Orleans in 1926 at the age of 52. Her body was brought back to Ellis County in Texas and buried beside her second husband, Walter Thomas VINSON in Elm Branch Cemetery.
Her original tombstone was a simple small flat marker with the inscription: "Mother, Mrs. W. T. Vinson, 1874-1926, Gone, but not forgotten". In 2010, her grandchildren Ray Roberts, Glen and Ben Basinger and Vernon Dean along with great-grandson William Gorman errected a new monument with her full maiden and married names as well as more detailed dates of her birth and death.
