Walter Snead Wolverton was born in Ben Hur, Limestone County, Texas on Dec 23, 1890 to William Mackey Wolverton and Mary Drucilla Vinson. He was known as "Snead". He lived in Hearne and Calvert in Robertson County until he was 10 years old. His parents divorced in 1901 with his father moving to New Orleans, remarrying and taking a job as a security officer with the New Orleans Transit Company.

Snead then moved with his mother and grandparents to Van Zandt County, Texas. He married Nellie Viola Boyd in Van Zandt County on December 26, 1906. Shortly after this marriage, he followed his mother and grandparents to Ellis County and settled near Rankin.

Snead and Viola had two daughters:

1) Myrtle Wolverton, b. January 03, 1908
2) Lucille Wolverton, b. November 12, 1909

They had an adopted son:

3) Wilson Albert Butler Wolverton, b. April 14, 1919

Wilson Albert was the son of his half-first cousin, Albert Weston Butler and Lamanda May Berry of Rankin and Blooming Grove.

Snead moved his family to New Orleans about 1922 where his father got him a job as a street car conductor with the New Orleans Transit Company.

Viola died in 1942 and Snead had her remains brought back to Ellis County and buried in Elm Branch Cemetery with a double marker awaiting his death. But plans changed. Snead married second in 1943 to Cecilia UNK in New Orleans. They had no children.

Snead died in June 1959 and Cecilia died in May 1972. Both are buried in New Orleans.
