"Charles A. Jeffers

Brazil - Charles A. Jeffers, 96, of DeSoto and formerly of Clay County died Saturday night, July 17, 1999, in Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born Oct. 16, 1902, in Clay County to Arthur D. Jeffers and Jennie Lawson Jeffers. His wife, Daisy Lawrence Jeffers, died in 1993. Survivors include four sons, Harland E. Jeffers, Wayman Jeffers, Richard Jeffers and Robert E. Jeffers; one brother, Otis P. Jeffers; companion, Lorine Cougill; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in DeSoto United Methodist Church. Burial is in Union Cemetery in DeSoto. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in Parson-Rust Funeral Home in Albany, and 10:30 a.m. until services Tuesday in the church."
