ALBANY - Robert E. (Bob) Jeffers, age 75, Albany, died Tuesday night at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, following complications during surgery. Born in DeSoto on June 16, 1931, he was the son of Daisy and Charles A. Jeffers. He graduated from DeSoto High School with the class of 1949 and remained a resident of the Albany area his entire life. Bob retired in 1992 after working 40 years at Borg-Warner Automotive, Muncie. He attended Union Chapel Ministries, Muncie, and was a member of Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M., Albany, Elks Lodge 1776, Dunkirk, and Sons of the American Legion, Albany.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 56 years, Beverly (Bullock) Jeffers; a son: Robert D. Jeffers (wife: Candice), Fresno, CA; a daughter: Cheryl Hatch (husband: Jeff), Dunkirk; 2 brothers: Harland Jeffers (wife: Mary), Albany, and Wayman Jeffers, FL; 4 grandchildren: Whitney Carr (husband: Nick), Bloomington, Drake Hatch, Muncie, Robbie Jeffers and Pearl Jeffers, both of Fresno, CA, and several nieces & nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Richard Jeffers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at Meacham Funeral Service (formerly Parson-Rust Funeral Home), Albany. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 15, 2006 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
