Chancy Lewis Cooper was born 11 Mar 1872 in Netawaka, Jackson County,Kansas. He was the son of Mary Leora Wiant and James Monroe Cooper.
From file from the Texas General Land Office: Field notes of a surveyof eighty acres of land, made for C L Cooper by virtue of his application to Homestead of date of September 2d 1890 ... Said Survey in Wheeler County, Texas, situated on the waters of Sweet Water, a tributary of W Fork of Red River, about 6 miles NE of Mobeetie. ... A note in the file states that he abandoned the claim July 1897. <ref> Texas General Land Office records </ref>

The death certificates of Chancy and his wife Frances indicated they moved to California about 1943-1944.
Chancy Cooper died 2 Apr 1961 in Riverside, Riverside, California.
