Mahlon Hull was born about 1797 in Pennsylvania (per census records) to Phineas Hull and Mary Wolverton. He was probably born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.<ref>His father Phineas Hull resided in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in 1790 per census records and in Augusta Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in 1802 and 1803 percounty tax records.</ref>
Proof that Mahlon was a son of Phineas Hull and a grandson and heir of Meshack Hull is found in the Hunterdon County, New Jersey Orphan Court minutes and in the deeds of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The request for Division of real estate of the Estate of "Mashil Hull deceased"identified Mahlon as one of the children of Phineas Hull as well as agrandchild of Meshack Hull. Biography
Mary was born about 1808 in Pennsylvania, probably in Northumberland Co. (In 1810, her father resided in Northumberland Co. PA.)
She married Mahlon Hull on 27 May 1828 in Northumberland Co., PA (per her disposition in Civil War pension papers). Pension paper depositions by Mary and her sons and grandson reveal that she was dependent on relatives after the death of her husband. She never received a pension. In her depositions, she stated when and where she married Mahlon Hull. She also listed her children who were then living which included Mary Wiant of Mobeetie, TX.[1]
In a Civil War pension application, son Joseph stated that his mother was in a poor house.[2]
A 1894 City Directory of Minneapolis listed both Joseph C. Hull, barber and also listed Mary Hull (widow of Mahlon).[3]
Mary Hull resided in West Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota in 1895.[4]
Mary Hull died 19 Aug 1899 in the Village of West Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.[5] The image of the county death record stated she was a widow, born in Pennsylvania and was 90 years old. The cause of death was old age.[6]
