EDWARD SHOEMAKER BURIED MONDAY
Edward Shoemaker, 71, died Friday evening at 9:40 o'clock at St. Mary's Hospital where he was ill two weeks. Mr. Shoemaker farmed for many years near Imogene, Iowa and came to Nebraska City from Leroy, Kansas in 1925. He lived on a small acreage in the southern part of Nebraska City.
Mr. Shoemaker was born February 11, 1874, at Essex, Page County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Shoemaker. He married Margaret Perkins at Onawa, Iowa, July 3, 1895.
His wife and the following children survive: Mrs. Bertha Rains, Nebraska City, Nebraska, Charles, Bedford, Iowa, Jess, Diagonal, Iowa, Mrs. Edna Kraft, Nebraska City, Mrs. Flora Brown, Diagonal, Iowa, Mrs. Hazel Meyers, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Clifford, Tieton, Washington, Mrs. Mary Steele, James Shoemaker, and Miss Josephine Shoemaker, Nebraska City, Louis, Agnes, and John died in Childhood, and Mrs. Ethel Campbell died in 1943. Two brothers, George and Wilson, live at Essex, Iowa and a sister, Mrs. Fannie Abbott and a brother, Jess, live in Nebraska City. Seventeen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 P.M., at the First Baptist Church, Rev. D. H. McMillan in charge, and burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. Pallbearers will be Herbert Schwaderer, Henry West, Matt Nielsen, George Rains, Ed Parker, and William Steele. The body is a Porter Funeral Home.

MRS. SHOEMAKER DIES SUNDAY
Mrs. Margaret Shoemaker, 71, died at St. Mary's hospital, Sunday evening, February 2, 1947, at 6:10 after an illness of five weeks. She was born at Louisville, Kentucky, January 16, 1876, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Perkins, and married Edward Shoemaker at Onawa, Iowa, July 3, 1895. Mr. Shoemaker died March 30, 1945, in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Charles, Bedford, Iowa, Jess, Clearfield, Iowa, Clifford, Yakima, Washington, Mrs. Flora Brown, Diagonal, Iowa, Hazel Myers, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Steele, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Edna Kraft, Jim and Josie Shoemaker, Nebraska City, Nebraska. Louis, John, Agnes, and Ethel preceded their mother in death.
Also surviving are three brothers, a sister, seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family came here from Iowa in 1928. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church, February 5, 1947, at 2 P.M., with Rev. D. H. McMillan in charge. Burial will be a Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. The body is at Porter Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Frank Golden, Edward Parker, Charles Cole, Frank Greerod, Frank Ingram, and Clarence Andrews.
