JAMES SHOEMAKER
Services for Mr. James A. Shomaker, 75, of Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, will be held Monday, February 26, at 10:30 A.M., at the Peterson Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Eugene Watson will officiate.
Shoemaker died February 23, 1990, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born May 13, 1914, in Imogene, Iowa, the son of Ed and Maggie (Perkins) Shoemaker. He married Thelma Ingram on January 27, 1937, at Auburn, Iowa.
Shoemaker was a retired plumber and mason for a family-owned building contractor. He was a Methodist and a member of the Nebraska City Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 906.
He is survived by his wife, his son and daughter-in-law, Rondal and Betty Shoemaker of Nebraska City, Nebraska, his daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Jerry Bethel of Plattsmouth; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; his brother Cliff Shoemaker of Wenachee, Washington, and three sisters, Mary Steele of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Flora Brown of Diagonal, Iowa, and Josephine Andrews of Tucson, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Ethel, Edna, Bertha, and Hazel; three brothers, Charlie, Jess, and Louis; two infant brothers, and an infant sister.
Visitation will begin Friday evening at Peterson Mortuary. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Peterson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma F. Shoemaker, age 90, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, died Friday, June 3, 2005, at Duff's Friendship Villa, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. She was born November 17, 1915, at Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska, daughter of Frank and Eva (Rakes) Ingram. She married James A. Shoemaker, January 27, 1937, at Auburn. He died February 23, 1990.
She was a 1932 Nebraska City High School graduate. She was secretary and bookkeeper of the family's plumbing business. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching TV, reading, car racing, camping, gardening, visiting with her family and friends, and talking of the telephone.
Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie and husband, Jerry Bethel, Plattsmouth, Nebraska; son Ronald and wife Betty, Nebraska City, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Jerry and Kristi Bethel, Plattsmouth, Nebraska, and Karen and Tracy Carnes, Glenwood, Iowa, and Robert and Susan Shoemaker and Scott Schoemaker all of Nebraska City, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren, Jenn Carnes, Kaylen Carnes, Aimee Haviston, Crystal Bethel, Whitney Bethel, Jess Bethel, and Lauren Shoemaker; two great-great grandchildren, Alex and Emily Haviston; sister, Fern Tyee, Grove, Oklahoma, and many other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Bassinger. Services were Monday, June 6, 2005, at Peterson Mortuary Chapel, Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. The Rev. Jeffrey Kelley officiated. Interment was at Wyuka Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to family choice. Peterson Mortuary, Nebraska City, was in charge of arrangements.
