SAM V. NORMAN

Sam V. Norman, son of A. W. and Martha (Braden) Norman, was born at Winthrop, Iowa, June 17, 1885, and died at Mercy Hospital in Waverly March 31 at the age of 81.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and also a member of Tyrrell Masonic Lodge in Waverly for 53 years. He attended school at Independence and graduated from Palmer Business College in Cedar Rapids. After completion of his education he was employed as an I.C.R.R. operator for several years.

He moved to Waverly in 1909. In later years he was employed in the Waverly State Bank, served as office manager for Coddington and Laird, and operated Norman's Dairy.

On July 26, 1911, he was united in marriage to Flora M. Lemon. To this union tow daughters were born, Genevieve M. Russell, Dallas, Tex., and Donna Ann; who preceded him in death in infancy. His parents and one brother also preceded him.

Mr. Norman leaves his wife, daughter Genevieve, two grandchildren, Julia and James Russell; one sister, Mrs. Maude Bucher of Davenport; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 4, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Waverly. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Tyrrell Masonic Lodge 116 A.F. & A.M. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly."

"Flora M. Norman - 1978

Flora May Norman, 85, of Waverly, died Saturday night, Jan. 20 at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly where she had been a resident since December 27, 1978.

Flora May Lemon was born on April 19, 1893 in Douglas township, Bremer county, the daughter of James and Harriett Farnsworth Lemon. At the age of ten she moved to Waverly with her parents. She attended school in Waverly and also attended Wartburg College in Waverly for one year. On July 26, 1911, she was united in marriage to Samuel V. Norman.

She was a memeber of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, and was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Waverly.

Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Genevieve and Donna Ann, three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Mrs. David A. (Julia) Nutt of Grand Prairie, Tex.; one grandson, James Russell of Grand Prairie, Tex.; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24. There will be an Eastern Star Service at 10:15 a.m. conducted by the Waverly Chapter O.E.S. No. 353, and a Christian Service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. L. David Brown of St. Paul's Lutheran Church."
