EDGAR C. CHURCH

Edgar Carl Church, son of John Wiley and Sarah Ellen Church, was born Feb. 23, 1906, and passed from this life March 8, 1958, at the age of 52 years and 13 days.

His childhood was spent in the Derby community with the exception of 2 years that he spent at Fairview, Okla.

Early in life he gave his heart to Christ and joined the Last Chance church, where he retained his membership until death.

On Feb. 23, 1925, he was united in marriage to Nellie Twyla Wolverton. To this union five children were born: Betty Jo, Rilla Fern, John Franklin, Edgar Clark and Larry Dean.

His adult life was spent in the Derby and Chariton vicinity except 11 years which were spent at Tempe, Ariz.

He was an asset to the neighborhood and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his family to whom he was very devoted. As he made friends wherever he went, people will not soon forget his pleasant smile and philosophy of life.

He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his devoted wife, Twyla, two sons, John Franklin, student at Missouri State Teachers college, Kirksville, Mo., and Larry Dean, at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Fern Enterline of Derby.

Also left behind are four brothers; Charley of Kalispell, Mont., Arthur and Glen of Derby and Ernest of Chariton, and four sisters: Mrs. May Holcomb of Des Moines, Mrs. Merle Campbell of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Edna McVey of Humeston and Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Post Falls, Idaho. A large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives remain as well as innumerable friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, son Edgar Clark, daughter Betty Jo, one sister and two brothers.

The Rev. Ernest Marsh of Maysville, Mo., officiated at funeral services with burial at Last Chance cemetery.

NELLIE CHURCH

Nellie Twyla Wolverton Church, daughter of John K. and Rilla Adeline Clark Wolverton, was born Sept. 17, 1900 and passed from this life August 28, 1983 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 11 days.

Her childhood was spent in Missouri, Kansas and Texas while most of her adult life was spent in Lucas, Clarke and Warren counties.

On Feb. 23, 1926 she was united in marriage to Edgar C. Church. Five children were born to this union: Betty Jo, Edgar Clark, John Franklin, Larry Dean and Rilla Fern.

She became a member of Last Chance Christian Church early in her adult life.

Preceding her in death were her husband, who passed away in 1958, two children, Betty Jo and Edgar Clark, in infancy; her parents and four brothers.

She is survived by her children, John Franklin of Des Moines, Larry Dean of Indianola and Rilla Fern Enterline of Indianola.

Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1983 at 2 p.m. at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. Densmore Peterson officiating. Interment was in the Last Chance Cemetery.
