HUGHESVILLE - Kenneth H. Roush, 67, of 127 N. Main St., formerly of Danville and Sunbury, died Thursday, May 18, 1995, in the intensive care unit of the Muncy Valley Hospital, where he was taken after being stricken ill the prior day at his home.

He was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Sunbury, a son of the late Dolin E. and Mary E. (Malick) Roush, He and his wife, the former Barbara A. Campbell, would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary June 10.

Mr. Roush was a sales agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in the Danville area for 23 years before retiring in 1981.

He was alos employed for four years by Weis Markets in Selinsgrove, Sunbury and Danville; was a fireman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for four years; and was employed by the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville, at the time of his death.

In 1981, he and his wife purchased the Ground Chuck Meat Market, Hughesville, which they operated until 1990.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in an engineer battalion.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Hughesville, where he served on the council of ministries and was an usher; Glenn Sharrow American Legion Post No. 35, Hughesville; Hughesville Fire Company; and Six County Fire Police. He was a former member of the South Side Fire Company, Riverside.

Mr. Roush was an avid fisherman and hiker. He needed onlu 21 miles to complete the Pennsylvania portion of the Appalachian Trail.

He was a former Cub Scout leader of Pack 33, Riverside, and served on the Troop Committee for Troop 48, Danville.

He was chairman of the Riverside Bicentennial Celebration.

He was a former youth fellowship leader for Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville, and the Danville High School Band Parents. He had been a member of the Danville High School Sports Boosters and Basketball Club.

Mr. Roush was affiliated with the Pennsylvania State Police Youth Camp, Chambersburg.

He was community oriented, and often dressed as Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Santa Claus, Uncle Sam, Casper the Friendly Ghost at Halloween and various other characters.

In addition, he helped organize fund-raisers for various individuals with special medical needs.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, John E. of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Kenneth E. of Williamsport; three daughters, Deborah A. Reich of Lancaster, Sally D. O'Shea of Springfield, Delaware County, and Brenda L. Sutherland of North Reading, Mass.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three brothers, John D. of Sunbury, Harry of Milton and William of Seattle, Wash.; and one sister, Margaret Stahl of Milton.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Hughesville, by the Rev. Arthur E. Galdfelter. Burial will be in Rushtown Presbyterian Cemetery, Danville RR6, where a graveside military service will be conducted by combined veterans organizations.

Visitors may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home Inc., 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Appalachian Trail Conference, P.O. Box 236, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. 25425."

Barbara A. Roush, 84, an amazing wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, of Hughesville, died Friday, March 2, 2018, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center, after a brief challenging illness.
Born Jan. 11, 1934, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late J. Lester and Hazel M. (Hower) Campbell. She was married to the late Kenneth H. Roush, who preceded her in death on May 18, 1995.
Barbara was a very active woman in her community, as a leader of the Girl Scouts, a Cub Scout den leader, the PTA, and the 4-H. She was also a business woman, and was a former co-owner of the Ground Chuck, Hughesville, and her own catering service. She was also previously employed as Teacher's Aide at Danville Area School District, and worked as a medical records coordinator for Geisinger Medical Center. She volunteered at both Hughesville and Riverside fire departments and Family Promise. She was very active in her church, the former Christ United Methodist Church, now The Beacon, a Methodist Church, Hughesville, where she was a board member and active volunteer. Barbara loved helping neighbors, and helping those in need. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing school bags for those in need and Christmas cantata costumes for her church. Above all Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and loved ones. Her example of being a servant to those around her have encouraged others to reach out in their worlds. Many remember her beautiful smile, peaceful heart and warm embrace.
She is survived by two sons, John E. (Naomi) Roush, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Kenneth E. (Diane) Roush, of Williamsport; three daughters, Deborah A. (Michael) Reich, of Tucson, Ariz., Sally Diane (Michael Sr.) O'Shea, of Springfield, and Brenda L. (Scott) Sutherland, of North Reading, Mass.; two sisters, Janet M. Campbell, of Danville, and Nancy E. Wiand, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Marvin W. Campbell, of Sunbury, and Wayne E. Campbell, of Long Pond; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving in-laws.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Bernice Campbell, and her daughter-in-law, Diane R. (Bassett) Roush."
