TERRE HAUTE — Deloris "Dee" Burk, 79, of Terre Haute, was called home by our Lord on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born on July 27, 1932, in Terre Haute, to James and Bertha (Jeffers) McGrew. She married John A. Burk and he preceded her in death. She was the oldest of six children. Dee proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. She retired from the Vigo County Treasurer's Office. She was a member of American Legion Post 290 in Rosedale. Dee enjoyed reading, painting, telling stories, and spending time with her dog, Poopers, aka DeeDee. She was full of energy and never knew a stranger. Children loved spending time at Aunt Dee's and she always welcomed them into her home. She was always there for her family with love and guidance. She will be deeply missed.

Dee is survived by her children, Neil Burk and LeAnn Floyd and her husband Butch, all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, BriAnna Floyd, Bailee Melvin, and Michael Floyd; a great-grandson, Dominick Floyd; sister, Judy Edington; brothers, Arthur "Bud" McGrew, George McGrew, and Mark McGrew; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jim "Jimmy" McGrew.

Visitation is today from noon until 3 p.m., at Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th St. Services will take place at 3 p.m., with Pastor John Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites performed by American Legion Post 290. Online condolences may be made at: www.thomasfuneralhome.net
