Earl C., age 92, and Doris L. Berger, age 90, of Sunbury passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at ManorCare, Sunbury.
Doris and Earl were married on Dec. 10, 1950, and enjoyed nearly 68 years together.
Earl was born April 24, 1926, in Rockerfeller Township, a son of the late Otto and Blanche (Campbell) Berger.
He attended the Plum Creek School.
Over the years he worked as a rural mail carrier for the Postal service, the Merit Laundry/Mary McIntosh, and at Susquehanna University from 1970 until his retirement in 1988. He also operated the family farm.
He was a charter member of the Stonington Fire Company and a member of United Lutheran Church of Sunbury.
Earl enjoyed giving tractor rides to all the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Glen.
Doris was born Jan. 22, 1928, in Mayfair, Shamokin Township, a daughter of the late Charles F. and Janet H. (Miller) Kerstetter.
She graduated from Sunbury High School in 1945.
She was formerly employed by Westinghouse in Sunbury but spent most of her years as a devoted mother and housewife.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church of Sunbury, where she pieced many quilt tops and was an active member of Women of the ELCA. She spent many years as a volunteer at Sunbury Community Hospital, Sunbury and was a member of the Tulpehocken Garden Club.
Doris enjoyed hosting many family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers, George, Leonard, Clyde, Donald, Richard, John "Jack", Earl and Paul, and one sister, Virginia (Kerstetter) Goisman.
Doris and Earl are survived by four children, Gale Hoffman of Shamokin Dam, Joyce Kuster of Selinsgrove, Gregory Berger of Sunbury, and Susan Decker of Halifax, 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral serviice at 11.
Interment will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington;
