Kevin David Smith, 50, Nixa, passed away April 18, 2002, in his home. He was born Jan. 14, 1952, in Nashville. He was an engineer for Getty and Texaco Oil Companies for 23 years. Most recently he had been employed by AECI in Springfield. He was a member of Nixa Church of the Nazarene and had been involved in various ministries over the years including serving as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and missions leader. Smith participated in Work and Witness mission trips to Peru, Guatemala and Venezuela. He and Debra Sue (Sisil) were married on Aug. 8, 1971. Survivors include his wife, Debra; two sons, Matthew Smith and wife, Jen, Denver and Tyler Smith, Chicago; a grandson, Aiden Smith; his mother, Billie Dickinson, Clayton, Ga.; two sisters, Bonita Botard, Ozark and Debbie Mayeske, Douglasville, Ga.; two brothers, Richard Jackson, Tulsa and Charlie Whitten, Oakhurst, Texas; a grandmother, Ersie Whitley, Nashville; his parents-in-law, Darrell and Joann Sisil, Ozark; two brothers-in-law, Ron Sisel and Jeff Sisil; many other relatives; and friends. His stepfather, Kenneth Whitten preceded him in death. A funeral service was April 22 in Nixa Church of the Nazarene. Burial was in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nixa Church of the Nazarene Missions Fund.
