Darrell Dean Sisil, age 84, of Ozark, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2006. He was born August 20, 1921, in Linton, Indiana, the son of Lovel and Blanch Sisil. On February 28, 1942, he and Joann Gabbard were united in marriage. He joined the U.S. Navy, and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Sisil worked as a plumber and often was able to help others by using this skill. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He became a Christian as a young adult at Pomona Church of the Nazarene in California. Darrell had been a member of the Nixa Church of the Nazarene since moving to Missouri in 1998. His faith, integrity, and love for his family showed throughout his life. Survivors include: His wife, Joann; two sons, Ronald Sisil of Colorado, and Jeffrey Sisil and fiancee, Christine Uphoff, of California; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ed Gill, Nixa; two grandsons and their wives, Matthew and Jen Smith, Colorado, and Tyler and Jenny Smith, Illinois; a great-grandson, Aiden Smith, of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Imogene Sisil, of Indiana; and a brother-in-law, Bill Gabbard and wife, June, of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, C.F. "Buzz" Sisil and his wife, Lucille, and James Lovel Sisil; a son, Darrell Ray Sisil, and son-in-law, Kevin Smith. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Gary Swearengin officiating. Burial will follow at Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Nixa Church of the Nazarene Building Fund."

Wilma “Joann” Sisil, age 92, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, in Ozark. She was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Indiana, the daughter of Ray and Doris (Jeffers) Gabbard. On Feb. 28, 1942, she and Darrell Sisil were married in Kentucky. For most of her life, Joann was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked as an airplane riveter at the Henry Ford plant in Detroit.
She and Darrell, with two small sons in tow, moved to California in 1948. She became a Christian as a young adult at the Pomona Church of the Nazarene in California. At that church, Joann taught a junior high Sunday school class, was missionary society president and hosted many church guests in their home. She had been a member of the Nixa Church of the Nazarene since moving to Missouri in 1998.
In California, Joann loved the beach. After moving to Colorado in 1992, she loved the mountains.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Sisil and partner Donetta Smith, and Jeffrey Sisil and wife Christine; daughter, Debra Gill and husband Ed; grandsons, Matthew Smith and wife Kameron, Tyler Smith and wife Jenny, and Samuel Sisil; granddaughter, Chloe Sisil; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, Madison and Daner.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell Sisil; son, Darrell Ray Sisil; son-in-law, Kevin Smith; brother, Bill Gabbard; and infant sister, Phyllis Gabbard.
Burial in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark.
