Melvin Cohn, 98, of Fremont died Monday, July 2, 2007, at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont.
THURSDAY, JULY 5, 2007
The funeral for Melvin E. Cohn, 98, of Fremont will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont.
He died Monday, July 2, 2007, at his home.
He was born Dec. 1, 1908, in Nebraska City and was raised in Nebraska City. He farmed in that area until moving to Colon in 1960 where he farmed until his retirement in 1974. He remained active working for local farmers until 1988 and had continued to be involved with the Fremont Senior Center.
He married Elsie E. Abbott on Jan. 15, 1929, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She died April 29, 1992.
Survivors include: a daughter, Lois Elliot (and husband, Tom) of Fremont; a granddaughter, Andrea Haar (and husband, Doug) of Castle Rock, Colo.; a grandson, Alan Brewer (and wife, Beth) of Fremont; nine great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters and a great-great-grandchild.
The Rev. Leland Foreman will officiate Saturday's service. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to the Fremont Senior-Adult Center.

Elsie E. Cohn, 82, of Fremont, Elsie Abbott Cohn died April 27, 1992 at Arbor Manor, Fremont, Nebraska. Services will be held at 2 PM April 30, at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Chapel of Fremont, Nebraska, with Pastor Phil Ronzheimer officiating.
She was born in Shenandoah, on November 24, 1909, and was a former residence of Nebraska City. She has lived in the Fremont area since 1975.
She was married to Melvin E. Cohn on January 15, 1929 in Glenwood, Iowa. He survives her.
Also surviving are daughters Lois Brewer of Denver, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-9 at the funeral home and Thursday until services. A memorial has been established to the pediatric cardiology unit in the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery, Lattin-Dugan Chamber Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
