Andrew "Andy" Mixter was born March 31, 1921, in Swissvale, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of Madison "Clark" and Rose (Demko) Mixter. Shortly after his birth the family moved back to Cleveland, Ohio and lived on the near west side close to Rose's family.
Andy was educated in the Catholic schools near their home, first attending St. Procops Elementary School. He served as an altar boy while attending St. Procops. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He learned to play the piano and clarinet, and was in the St. Ignatius marching band.
After graduation he worked at Gundlings Sunoco Service Station near his parents home. That is where he met his future wife, Dorothy O. Schweter. Dorothy's brother worked with Andy at the service station. Andy was drafted into the Army on August 8, 1942. He was a Medical and Dental Technician in the Army, and for a time was stationed in India. He was decorated with the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.
He married Dorothy Schweter May 22, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked at General Motors, Coit Road Plant, Cleveland, Ohio. He retired July 1, 1981. Andy's hobbies were square dancing and camping, motorcyle riding and snowmobiling. He and his wife owned four lots at Holiday Camplands in Andover, Ohio. The whole family would join in the fun at the Camplands.
One year after the death of his wife, Dorothy, Andy married Geraldine Bullock, a resident of Andover, Ohio. They were married six months when Andy suffered a massive heart attack and died February 21, 1983.

Dorothy (Schweter) Mixter was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on February 4, 1925. She was the daughter of Frank and Hedwig (Otte) Schweter, and the youngest of their three children.
She was engaged to Andrew "Andy" Mixter. Andy was a medical technician in the Army. They had planned a June wedding, but Andy received orders that he was going to be shipped overseas within a month. He was able to get a weekend pass, and with only a short notice he came back to Cleveland to marry Dorothy. The couple were married at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on the west side of Cleveland on May 22, 1943. A small group of family members and friends celebrated with the happy couple at the home of Dorothy's parents. Andy returned to base on Sunday, the day after their wedding.
Dorothy's first job was a candy clerk at a local store. After graduating from St. Michael's High School, she worked as a Dental Assistant, Personal Buyer for the May Company in downtown Cleveland, and a worker at Tid Bit Products in Cleveland. She was the mother of four children.
She belonged to many bowling leagues over the years. She and her husband joined a Square Dancing group in the late 1960's, and she made all of her square dancing costumes. In the 1970's she and Andy started camping. The owned four lots at Holiday Camplands in Andover, Ohio. They camped there year round, especially enjoying snowmobiling in the winter. It was at the campgrounds that Dorothy suffered a major stroke which led to her death on July 12, 1981, at the age of 56.
