Meriam J. "Mim" Miller, 87, of Muncy, and recently a resident at the Hillside in Montoursville for the past five years, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born December 28, 1920, in Watsontown, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Effie (Opp) Yagel.

Her husband of 60 years, Claude J. "Bud" Miller, died November 6, 2003.

A 1938 graduate of Muncy High School, she continued her education at Wheaton Business School. In 1939 she went to work as a bookkeeper with the former Jones & Laughlin Steel Co. until 1945. From 1962 until 1972 she was employed as an office manager at Glamorize. For the next 10 years she worked as a bookkeeper at Cooper Everett Insurance Co. until retiring in 1982.

Mim was a member of the former Tuesday Study Club and the Muncy Business & Professional Women's Club. She also volunteered at the Muncy Valley Hospital, where she was a member of the Auxiliary. Mim enjoyed traveling, sewing and playing cards, and was a participant in area card clubs. She appreciated flowers, especially roses.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, John C. and Catherine Miller of Coopersburg and Thomas J. and Kathleen Miller of Dover; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane M. and Randy Whitehouse of Troy, New York; and five grandchildren, Johanna, Benjamin, Evan and Ellie Miller, and Ryan Whitehouse.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother, Charles Yagel, who died September 19, 1943.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be the Rev. D. Gene Patterson, retired Baptist minister, and the Rev. Bethany P. Wood, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary, 215 E. Water St., Muncy, PA 17756.
