"John H. Mettler
John H. Mettler, 52, of new Ringgold, died Thursday, in Hahneman University Hospital, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Janet E. (Scapura) Mettler.

He was a fifth grade elementary school teacher for Tamaqua Area School District for 31 years. He received a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in education from Penn State University. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Teachers Association.

Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late James W. and Bernice M. (Schaeffer) Mettler.

He served six years in the Army National Guard.

He was a volunteer for Horses for Horizons, New Ringgold R.2 Chapter.

Survivors: Wife; son, John J. at home; sisters, Monya Everhard in the Netherlands, Sherry Bartush of Orwigsburg; nieces, nephews.

Services: 8 p.m. Sunday, Tamaqua Elementary School. Call 5-8 p.m. in the school. Arrangements, Griffiths & Reeser Funeral Home, Tamaqua.

Contributions: John H. Mettler Scholarship Fund, Tamaqua School District offices, or Leukemia Society of Eastern Pennsylvania, Philadelphia."
