Katherene Marguerite Luther was born October 27, 1924 in Knoten, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Henry and Marguerite Morene (Parr) Shoemaker. She passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Nebraska Medical Center at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 24 days. Clarinda Cemetery

Katherene grew up in Southwest Iowa and graduated from New Market High School in 1941. On August 21, 1945 she was united in marriage to Carroll Luther in Troy, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children, Sue and Donald.

Katherene worked as the office manager for the Appleman Manufacturing Company in Nebraska City, Nebraska for 17 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shenandoah and was an active member of C.W.F. She was also a member of the Mary-Martha Circle, the Bricker Senior Citizen Center and the G.T.G. Club in Clarinda.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carroll; and a brother, Charles Shoemaker.

Survivors include her children, Sue Lieber and her husband Darrell of Sioux City, Iowa, Donald Luther and his wife Robin of Spokane, Washington; a sister, Delores Renander of Bethesda, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Shoemaker of Clarinda, Iowa; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
