MURPHYSBORO -- Allan Douglas Littlefield, 73, Gladstone, Missouri, went to be with his savior Jesus Christ, Monday June 30, 2014 surrounded by his family.
Allan was born Oct. 2, 1940, in Adamsville, Tennessee, to James Luther and Thelma Catherine (Marcom) Littlefield.
Allan married the love of his life, Janet Ann Pate, Dec. 22, 1962, in East St. Louis.
He was a graduate of Murphysboro Township High School in the class of 1959 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from SIU in 1968.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leroy, David and Clarence Littlefield; sister, Nila (Littlefield) Fuchak; and granddaughter, Hope Falter. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet; two daughters, Crystal (Mark) Thurber of Kansas City, Missouri, and Pamela (Richard) Falter of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Liam, Pate and Wiley Falter; sister, Alici Kay Bryan of Sun City, Arizona; brother, John (Wally), who is 3 years and one day older than Allan, (Kay) of Sunset Hills, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved dearly.
Allan was known for his love, loyalty, excitement and encouragement. He was an active member of Antioch Bible Baptist Church where he was also a dedicated partner in the Pastor's Prayer Group. He enjoyed bowling in the bowling league and served countless volunteer hours at Renner School as a reading coach, Grace Baptist Day Care and Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary. He offered constant love and encouragement to all who were around him. Allan told grand stories throughout his life that would leave all who listened amazed and laughing. Allan could walk into any setting and make friends instantly – he never met a stranger. He had the gift of conversation and making others around him feel welcome. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, visiting his grandchildren, watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball and Arthur Bryant's Barbeque.
Prior to a life changing brain injury at 33 he was employed by General Electric where he was the Salesman of the Year for three years and won numerous trips and contests. He remained a loyal customer of GE throughout his life. He gave 100 percent in everything he did and expected the same from everyone around him.
Allan will be greatly missed by his family and friends but his many "sayings" will stay forever in their hearts and minds. Allan's brain injury and kidney disease ultimately ended this life on earth but paved the way for his eternal life in Heaven. He has seen the face of his Savior and is now running through the fields of Heaven in his new body.
Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 3, in Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 N.E. 72 St., Kansas City, MO 64118, with cremation to follow.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White Chapel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Bible Baptist Church or the Shepherd Center North Breaktime Club.
