Jewell H. Reinhart, 99, of Peninsula, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Summa Health Akron City Hospital.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Harry Harkness and Cora Thompson. Mrs. Reinhart was a school teacher for over 40 years, serving the last 25 years of her career in the Hudson School District. Her last position before retiring at the age of 70 was as a fifth-grade science teacher at Hudson Elementary School. During her career, she and her husband donated an arboretum to McDowell School in Hudson. An active member of Peninsula United Methodist Church for over 60 years, she was also a member of the Civil War Round Table, D.A.R., and was a graduate of the Dayton Normal School. She and her husband were very interested in Native Americans and enjoyed traveling to the indian reservations out West.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Sr., in 1989, she is survived by her son, Ralph Jr. (Betty) of Peninsula; daughter, Dr. Jewell (Dr. William, M.D.) Coburn, Ph.D, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; grandchildren, Jodi (Terry) Padrutt, Lori (David) Mercer, David (Tammi) Reinhart, Dr. William Coburn III, M.D., Valerie, Ashley, and James Coburn; seven great-grandchildren; and she will also be fondly remembered by Charlotte Reinhart and stepgrandchildren, Mary, Kelly, and John.
Contributions are suggested to the Memorial Fund of Peninsula United Methodist Church, 1575 Main St., Peninsula, Ohio 44264, where funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at 11 a.m. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at Johnson-Romito, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 19 E. Main St., Hudson, Ohio, Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
