"Services held for Carson C. Freier

A memorial mass was held October 31, 1994, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel in Rapid City for Carson C. Freier. Rev. Peter Wilke officiated and burial of the cremains was in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors.

Carson C. Freier was born December 28, 1912 in rural Hand County to William and Louise (Warnke) Freier and died October 25, 1994, at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Rapid City, at the age of 81 years, nine months and 27 days.

He graduate from high school in Highmore. He was a farmer in the Highmore area until moving to Rapid City and working at Swander's Bakery.

He married Clara Landguth on May 2, 1962, in Lead. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Center and Elks Lodge of Rapid City.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.

Survivors include his wife, Clara of Rapid City; three stepsons: Charles Landguth, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Dan Peter Landguth and Dennis Paul Landguth, both of Rapid City; one brother, Harry Freier, Swickly, PA; seven step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Robert Freier of Highmore; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Memorials have been established to St. Thomas More High School building fund and the Black Hills Childrens Home."
