WOODBURN - Elmer A. Flathers, 73, died Saturday in a Woodburn care center.

He was born in Jerome, Idaho, and graduated from high school in Gooding, Idaho. He graduated from Idaho State College in Pharmacy.

He married Doris B. McQuiddy on Feb. 22, 1959, in Oregon City. They lived in Woodburn, He owned a drug store in Woodburn, and also worked in stores in Salem, Canby and Washington.

He served in the Army during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He enjoyed western music, and belonged to several square dance clubs. He also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife; son, Robert McQuiddy of Woodburn; daughter, Cynthia Dreyer of Keizer and Marilyn Patterson of La Habra, Calif.; sister, Gladys Anderson of Orofino, Idaho; brother, Jack of Cecil, Ark,; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Belle Passi Cemetery, Woodburn. Arrangements are by Cornwell mortuary.
