Madison "Clark" Mixter was born October 23, 1897, in Milan, Erie County, Ohio. He was the youngest son of Madison and Nellie (Cummins) Mixter. He was named after his father and grandfather; everyone called him "Clark". Clark was the middle name of his maternal grandfather, Enos Clark Cummins. Clark was of average height, with blond hair and pale blue eyes.
Clark was educated in the Milan schools and graduated May 20, 1915, at the Milan Opera House which was located on the square in Milan. Clark was one of 15 graduates and read a special story at the graduation.
After his graduation he continued to live on his parents farm, and because he was the youngest, he was required to help with the food preparation for the hired farmhands. He didn't like the farm so as soon as he could, he jumped on his motorcycle and moved from the farm to Cleveland, Ohio, and lived with his brother, George. It was while living in that area that he met his future wife, Rose Gertrude Demko, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Konrady) Demko. Clark and Rose were married May 12, 1920. Soon after their marriage the couple moved to Swissvale, Pennsylvania. It was there that the couple's only child, Andrew, was born. Soon after Andy's birth the couple moved back to Cleveland, Ohio.
During the Depression Clark worked under the WPA program, and then later worked for General Motors, Coit Road Division, where he retired from in 1968. He loved to hunt, fish, garden, and camp. He bought two lots at Holiday Camplands in Andover, Ohio, in 1971. He didn't get to use the campsite at Holiday Camplands for very long. He died August 15, 1972.
