DE JARNETT

Elizabeth Agnes Wyatt De Jarnett, daughter of Fred and Ressa Johnson Wyatt, was born Jan. 4, 1912, in Derby, Iowa. She passed away in the Hospice Room of Lucas County Health Center July 7, 2000, at Chariton, Iowa.

Elizabeth attended Derby Methodist Church, and attended school at Derby. She played basketball and the clarinet in the high school band and graduated from Derby High School in the class of 1929. She worked as a bookkeeper for her father in Wyatt and Hipsley Produce business in Derby, later going to Des Moines with her cousin, Gusta Flack, to work and later on to California to work.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to Leonard De Jarnett Dec. 23, 1942, at Rozwell, N.M. They shared many fishing and hunting trips together with relatives and friends. Elizabeth loved to plant and care for her gardens. Baking sweets and making candy were also a specialty of hers, always sharing them with friends. Her last batch of Rice Krispie bars were shared with the nurses at LCHC.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her brother, Dwight, and her mother and father.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard De Jarnett; a sister, Marie Krekow; and niece, Mary Ellen Hlatko of Terre Haute, Ind.; a nephew, Edward Krekow and his wife of Grand Prairie, Texas; two great nieces; a great nephew and his wife; two sisters-in-law, Ursal and Dove; and a brother-in-law, John De Jarnett; a very close cousin, Gusta Flack; other cousins, neighbors and many friends.

We are sure that Elisabeth would want to include Dr. Rasmussen and his staff and everyone at the Lucas County Health Center who helped care for her for the last two and a half years.

Graveside services were held for Elisabeth at the Last Chance Cemetery near Derby Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. Officiating was Berniece Throckmorton of Derby. Pearl Shipp sang "Beyond the Sunset." Gusta Flack provided a luncheon in her honor for family and friends after the service.

Casket bearers were friends and family, Tom Shovlain, Edward Krekow, Ralph Conner, Bill Jones, Bill Danner and Gerald D'Attilio. Mosher funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
