George Wayne Hennegin, son of R. Sherman and Adella Reed Hennegin, was born February 21, 1903 in Worth County, Missouri and departed this life April 28, 1979 at the Ringgold County hospital at Mount Ayr, Iowa at the age of 76 years.
He grew to manhood on the homesteaded farm west fork of Grand River, east of Sheridan, Mo.
On Sept. 1, 1926, he was united in marriage to Margaret E. Brumfield of Blockton, Iowa. To this union were born three children, Lorraine Nelson of Kansas City, Elnora O Neill of Denver, Colo., and Bill Hennegin of Grant City, Mo.
Wayne was an energetic and enthusiastic farmer most of his lifetime. His farm was located on west fork of Grand River. The land was homesteaded by his grandfather and great-grandfather.
Wayne retired in 1959 and moved to Sheridan, Mo. He was a director of Isadora Cemetery and spent many hours in community service. He was fond of the leaders involved in the remodeling of the Sheridan Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Sheridan, his three children; two grandchildren Terry O Neill of Denver, Colo., and Mary E. Scott of Jefferson City, Mo.; three sisters, Hazel Hawk of Ravenwood, Mo., Laura Davidson of Parnell, Mo., and Fern Ellis of Elisnore, Calif.; one brother, Dale of Sheridan, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church April 30, 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Ward Campbell of Mount Ayr, Iowa. Burial was in the Isadora Cemetery. Arrangements were by Andrews Funeral Home, Grant City.
