Dale Allen Nelson, 75, of KC MO, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2002 at Carondelet Manor. A visitation honoring Dale will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday January 15, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Chapel.
Dale was born September 14, 1926 in Kansas City, MO. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Northeast High School, and graduated from University of Kansas with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Dale worked on many major construction projects in the Kansas City area, including the Kansas City Public Library and Crown Center. He was employed with JC Nichols Company, Western Auto Supply. Most recently, he has been employed with Mark One Electric and worked on the development of Rosanna Square Shopping Center.
Dale was an avid sailor and spent many hours sailing with his daughter at Lake Jacomo in his Sweet 16 sailboat. He also enjoyed fly-fishing and traveling. For many years, he enjoyed owing German Shepards and Pembroke Welsh Corgis. He was a Board Member of the Heart of American Kennel Club and served as Obedience Chairman.
Dale is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hennegin Nelson, his daughter and son-in-law. He also leaves two grandchildren of Overland Park, a brother Fran Nelson and his wife, and several nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Esther Koch Nelson., sister Mary Margaret Nelson Erb, and brother Robert W. Nelson, Jr.
