"Death Claims Mrs. Swift, 74

Rites Saturday For Well Known Woman

Mrs. Mary A. Swift, 74, wife of Carl Swift, well known resident of this community and a descendant of pioneer Decatur County families, died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past few years and seriously ill for two days.

A native and lifelong resident of this city, she was born Nov. 21, 1890, the daughter of Benjamin K. and Eliza Talbott Woolverton. Mrs. Swift had resided on East Main for the past 33 years. She was a descendant of the Talbott and Hendricks families.

She was married to Carl Swift Aug. 27, 1919, in Decatur County,

Mrs. Swift was a member of the greensburg Presbyterian Church, the Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving with the husband are: A daughter, Mrs. Don (Mary Ann) Florea, R. R. 6, five grandchildren, Mrs. Don (Sherry) Hill, Sardinia, Mrs. Arthur (Penie) Niles, Greensburg, Miss Cinda Adams, Toni Adams and Rick Adams, all of R. R. 6; one great-granddaughter, Krista Hill, Sardinia; a step-daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Kathrine) Craven, Franklin; and a sister, Miss Victoria Woolverton, Greensburg.

A brother, Fred T. Woolverton, preceded her in death in 1958.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m/ Saturday in the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home wiht the Rev. Rex Wentzel, of the Greensburg Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the South Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday."
