"Birthday Anniversary

A very pleasant occasion was celebrated Sunday at the lovely farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mann, three miles north of Dansville, the event being the 80th birthday of Mr. Mann. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Ferguson and family of Mason, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mann and niece, Irene Harkness of Dansville, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. White of Stockbridge, and Mrs. M. F. Parker of Lansing. A delicious potluck dinner was served at one o'clock with a beautiful birthday cake made by Mrs. Ferguson, adorning the center of the table. It was a complete surprise to Mr. Mann and he received some very nice gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Mann have lived on this farm for 55 years, continuously, eceept [sic] for less than 5 years spent in Mason, and it is very interesting to listen to the stories Mr. Mann can relate in regard to the changes he has seen in the country since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Mann have both enjoyed excellent health until the recent illness of Mrs. Mann. At the present time Mr. Mann does his own farm work, is hale and hearty, and is as spry as a man 55 or 60. Their farm is called Southview farm and is one to be proud of as they have a lovely home and other farm buildings. Their many friends in Dansville wish them many more happy birthdays."

"Dansville Resident Dies At Farm Home

Mrs. Frank Mann Passes After Long Illness.

Funeral services will be held at the farm home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs. Frank Mann, 75, who passed away Wednesday night at her home near Dansville after an illness of several months. She was taken ill in July with a stroke and for the past two months has been confined to her bed in a helpless condition.

Ida Whipple was born in New York state on March 15, 1858, and came to Michigan in 1860 at the age of two years and settled with her parents on the farm now occupied by Herman Mann in Ingham township. She married Frank Mann on April 21, 1874, and for a few years they resided in Stockbridge later moving to the present farm where they have since resided with the exception of four years spent in Mason. They returned to the farm nine years ago.

Mrs. Mann is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Loyd Ferguson of Mason, and Mrs. Henry Peterrson of Grand Haven, and one son, Herman Mann, of Dansville, besides her husband, Frank Mann. Five grandchildren also survive."
