Judson Wolverton, a valued employee at the Elkland Roller Mill since it was established in 1889, died at his home on Buffalo street on July 11 at 3 p.m., following a three weeks' illness of a complication of diseases, aged 71 years. He was a son of the late Charles and Sarah Wolverton, and was born at Tyrone, N.Y., August 16, 1848, where he spent his boyhood days. In 1871 he married Miss Ellen Burnett, of Coopers Plains, N.Y., and to them four children were born; Bert, of Sherrill, N.Y.; Charles, deceased; Mrs. Andrew Newland, of Port Allegany, and Mrs. Elizabeth Stoddard, at home. In 1889 he removed to Elkland with his family, and helped build the Elkland Roller Mill, where he continued to work until the time of his last sickness. Mr. Wolverton was a member of the Presbyterian church and will be greatly missed throughout the entire community. Funeral services were held July 14 at 2 o'clock. Rev. S. D. Angel officiating. Burial in the Highland cemetery. Wellsboro Agitator 23 July 1919.

Mrs. Ellen Wolverton

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gleason, daughter Betty, and son Richard, of Corning Boulevard, were in Elkland, Pa., Wednesday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. Ellen Wolverton.

The services, conducted by the Rev. Peter Van Dusen, pastor of the Elkland Methodist Episcopal Church, assisted by the Rev. James A. Hamilton, pastor of the Parkhurst Methodist Presbyterian Church of Elkland, were held at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Wolverton's daughter, Mrs. Edward Johnson, interment was in Highland Cemetery, Elkland.

Mrs. Wolverton, whose death occurred at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 23, 1928, was born in Coopers Plains, February 22, 1852.

Besides Mrs. Johnson she leaves another daughter, Mrs. Andrew Newland, of Port Allegany and a son, Bert Wolverton, of Sherill.

Among those who were in Elkland to attend the services are: Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Newland, Miss Helen Newland, Mr. and Mrs. James Newland and son, James, Jr., of Port Allegany, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Parker, Miss Margaret Parker, Mrs. Lena Hall, of Penn Yan; Bert Wolverton, of Sherill.

Mrs. Fred Masters and Mrs. Ward Wheat, of Rock Stream; Harry Crans, of Glenora; Mrs. Dorothy Hopkins, of Henrietta; Mrs. Elizabeth O'Brien, of Wellsville; Mr. and Mrs. Gleason and family of Corning; Miss Julia Johnson, of Mason, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Doan, of Osceola, Pa."
