Funeral services for Bert F. Hann Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Reverend Ken Campbell officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.


The son of Bert F. and Mildred Frances Matthew Hann Sr., he was born March 7, 1927, in Ponca City and passed away October 5 in a local hospital.


He and the former Alice Lavina Cummings were married May 6, 1949, in Gainesville, Texas.


Bert served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. He worked as a grocery manager in Texas before moving back to Springer. He and Lavina had been here the past 15 years. Bert had worked for Mental Health Services as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the American Legion.


Bert is survived by his wife Lavina of the home and children, Terry and Melissa of Holland, Texas; Gary and Pat of Azle, Texas, and Bret and Linda of San Antonio, five grandchildren, Lee, Gary, Jennifer, Michele and Tracy, and four great grandchildren, Kendal, Emory, Hannah and Cheyanne. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Betty.


Serving as bearers will be Alan and Dennis Chaney, Robin Porter, John and Cody Losson, Verlin Ward and Danny Cummings.

Alice Lavina Hann, 83, daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Alice Shirley (Beard) Cummings, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. Lavina was born October 2, 1930 at Ardmore, Oklahoma.

Survivors include three sons, Terry Michael Hann, and wife, Melissa, Temple, Texas, Gary Don Hann, Sr. and wife, Patricia, Azle, Texas, Bret F. Hann and wife, Linda, San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren, Michele Drake and husband, Anthony, Tracy Hann, Lee Hann and wife, Melissa, Gary Don Hann, Jr., Jennifer Carr and husband, Edward, and six great-grandchildren.

Lavina grew up in Ardmore and graduated from Ardmore High School, the Class of 1949. She and Bert F. Hann, Jr. were married May 6, 1949 at Gainesville, Texas. They had been married 60 years, when Bert passed away, October 6, 2009.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 1:00 P.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Bruce Kirby. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
