Ray M. Russell, 76, of New Kensington died at 7 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 9, 2002) in the Alle-KIski Medical Center (formerly Allegheny Valley Hospital), Harrison.

Born Oct. 25, 1925, in New Kensington, he lived in the city all of his life.

For 40 years he was a postal carrier working out of the New Kensington Post Office.

An avid Steelers fan, Mr. Russell was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, New Kensington.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shirley Croyle Russell; two sons, James Russell of Frazer and Timothy Russell of Apollo; two daughters, Lisa Tallerico of Kittanning and Mrs. Judy (Phillip) Swartzlander of New Kensington; a brother, Kenny Russell of New Kensington; and a sister, Martha Reedy of Erie.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Lee and Ryan Russell, Lindsey Russell, Nikala Tallerico and Sara Tallerico, Phillip and Tyler (George) Swartzlander; and two great-grandsons, Hunter and Conner Russell.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Martha Molleston Russell; and a brother, Edward Russell.

Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, where a service will be at 9 tonight. Burial will be private.
