Ora Lee Alpha Hanks Collins, daughter of A. S. and B. E. Hanks, was born October 15, 1891, and departed this life August 3, 1928, at the age of 36 years, 9 months, and 18 days. She was united in marriage to Ward Collins April 7, 1917. To this union were born three children, two girls and one boy: Mary Elizabeth, age 10, Burl Ward, age 5 and the infant, Virginia Lee Ola. She leaves to mourn her departure the husband and three children, father A. S. Hanks, step-mother, Mary J. Hanks, and only one brother, Claude F. Hanks, six sisters-in-law, 16 nieces and nephews and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. She professed faith in Christ at Smyrna Baptist church at the age of 12 years, uniting with the same. Later she moved her membership to the Selmore Baptist church. Here she remained a faithful member, worker and teacher until death. Words cannot express how much we will miss Ora. She was loved by all who knew her, but thank God it is only for a while. We cannot bring her back, but all who will can go to her. Where there will be no more parting. The funeral services were conducted by the Klepper Undertaking Company with Brother Ross Carter leading in prayer before leaving the home. The funeral profession marched from the home to the Selmore Baptist church with cousins of both the husband the deceased wife as pallbearers. They were followed by a group of girls carrying many beautiful flowers. The sermon was preached by D. J. Estep. Pastor of Selmore Baptist church. Text, Rev. 14-13. Theme, Influence after death by the blessed dead. Song services led by Selmore choir. Opening prayer, Elder John F. Killian, Benediction, Arthur Wilson. Pastor
