RICHARD MARLIN "DICK" JACKSON

Richard Marlin "Dick" Jackson was born June 19, 1933 in Terre Haute, Ind. the son of Marlin and Leona (Wenzel) Jackson. He passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 82.

On December 29, 1951, Dick married Nancy Sue Coffenberry, the love of his life. Dick was a dedicated member of law enforcement for 31 years. He spent countless hours devoted to his profession as a police officer. Dick was a member of the Arizona Highway Patrol Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Blue Knights Motorcycle Group and the National Rifle Association. He had a passion for anything related to cars and motorcycles. Dick's greatest love came for his family; he was a kind and caring man that will be greatly missed.

Surviving Dick are his children, Sally Day (Michael) of Prescott, Ariz., and Jay Jackson (Annette) of Cortez; his grandchildren, Michele Day, Ben Jackson and Ryan Jackson; his great-grandchild, R.J. Howell; and by his siblings, Judy Keene (Gale) of Bloomington, Ind., and Susan Sovern of Medora, Ind. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Jackson.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

NANCY SUE JACKSON

Memorial services for Nancy Sue Jackson, 76 of Cortez, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cortez.

Nancy Sue Jackson passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango after a brief illness. She was born the daughter of Ruth and LeRoy Coffenberry on March 10, 1935 in North Terre Haute, Ind.

On December 29, 1952 in Vincennes, Ind. Nancy married Richard M. Jackson. She and Richard recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. Nancy had retired from Yavapi Community College in Prescott, Ariz. The couple moved to the Cortez area 11 years ago. Nancy became a volunteer at the Cortez Cultural Center and was a member of Harmony Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved riding motorcycles with her husband and traveling worldwide. In her time at home she enjoyed quilting and gardening. Nancy was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchild and loved them deeply.

Nancy leaves behind her husband, Richard "Dick" Jackson of Cortez; daughter, Sally Day and husband, Michael of Prescott, Ariz.; son, Richard Jay Jackson and wife, Annette of Cortez; sister, Mary Ann Heck of Lebanon, Ind.; her grandchildren, Michele, Ben and Ryan; and great grandson, Robert "RJ".

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arizona Juvenile Diabetes Association, 4343 E. Camelback Road Ste. 230, Phoenix, AZ 85018.
