Highmore - Martina Christensen, age 71, of Highmore, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Aberdeen Living Center. A fellowship celebrating the life of Martina will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, at the Luze Funeral Home, Highmore. Burial will be in the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, under the direction of Luze Funeral Home, Highmore. Martina Lea Kelley Christensen was born July 11, 1933, in Hand County, S.D., to Preston C. and Bessie (Williams) Kelley. She was raised in Highmore and attended school there through the eighth grade. On April 22, 1950, she married Victor Christensen Jr., in Highmore. To this union four children were born. Martina worked for her father's Gateway Motel in Highmore and later for Northwest Fabrics in Aberdeen. Some of her hobbies included quilting, cooking, sewing, gardening, and playing on the computer. She was a member of the Miller Quilting Club, Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. Martina is survived by her children: Carla (Bill) Clouser of Aberdeen, Vicki Christensen of Minneapolis, Brad (Rita) Christensen of Chandler, Ariz., and John Christensen of Phoenix, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Phyliss Kenison, Mavis Burdick, and Sherry Giesel. Her parents, husband and two sisters preceded her in death.
