TERRE HAUTE - Louise Irene Sickler Cheek Trummel passed away at home Sept. 23, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Irene was born April 10, 1926, in Terre Haute, to Nettie and Elmer Sickler, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gail Austin Cheek; her beloved sister, Norma Black; and two brothers, Bernard and Randolf Sickler.

Irene is survived by her husband of 10 years, Christian Eugene (Gene) Trummel; one son, James (Jim) Cheek and his wife Anita; grandchildren, Tamara (Scott) Hemmerlein, Scott (Autumn) Owen, Alan (Isabel) Cheek, and Geoffrey Cheek and his partner Jason Hinton; great-grandchildren, Sara and Chloe Hemmerlein, J Scott Owen II, Dylan and Austin Cheek. She also is survived by her stepson, Chris Trummel and his wife Betty; stepdaughter, Sarah Mattick and her husband Jim; grandchildren, Scott, Ryan, and Matt (Cassie) Trummel, Patrick Minnaert, Julie and Linda Mandolini-Trummel, Heidi and Hayden Mattick; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Austin Trummel. Surviving also is a special niece, Shirley Berry.

Irene was retired from Lovelace Truck Service and First Financial Corporation. She was a member of the Country Club of Terre Haute and a past member of the Women's Transportation Club.

Visitation at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, will be Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010, from 2 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service following visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley or the charity of the donor's choice.
