Clarence E. Chaney of Downingtown

Clarence E. Chaney, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet Luckock Chaney who passed away in 1986 and of the late Barbara R. Schultz Chaney who passed away in 2011. Born in Verona, Pa, he was the son of the late Charles and Genevieve McCullough Chaney. Clarence worked as a chemical technician for ARCO Chemical Company before retiring. He was an avid woodworker, making anything from crafts to furniture. Most of all he was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his children, Rod (Nancy) Chaney, Dennis (Linda) Chaney, Amy (Dennis) Hoffman and Carrie (Kevin) Mengel; a brother, Daniel (Vickie) Chaney; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Uhdel Chaney. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, where family and friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Upper Octorara Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Simpson Meadows Benevolent Fund, 101 Plaza Drive, Downingtown, Pa 19335.
