Lola E. Green, 72, of rural Galesburg, died at 1:56 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born at Granby, Missouri to Otis B. and Georgia (Kee) Cargile. She grew up in various places in the Ozarks and graduated from high school at Gravette, AR. She lived in Sedan, Altoona, Independence, Neodesha, and Las Vegas before moving to Galesburg.

Lola worked various jobs over the years including manufacturing, construction, and as a waitress at several restaurants.

She and James W. "Jim" Green, Jr. were married on June 13, 1984 at the Riverside Park in Independence. He survives of the home. She and Lowell Dale Wolverton were married and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1981.

She was an avid reader and loved to write poetry and short stories. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband she is survived by four sons, Lynn Wolverton of Winfield, Lary Wolverton of Pittsburg, Lance Wolverton of Buffalo, and Leslie Wolverton of Galena, MO; one daughter, Lora Banning of Independence; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delvin Cargile of Port Angeles, WA and Toby Cargile of Independence; one sister, Janice Turner of Independence. She was preceded in death one brother and two sisters.

Following cremation a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Galesburg United Methodist Church. Committal services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Independence. Memorials are suggested to the Galesburg United Methodist Church or to the Independence American Legion Post No. 139 and these may be left at or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
