Wendell died from complications of spinal meningitis. Morrison Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of final arrangements.

I suspect that Wendell was the son of John Calvin Byrd (1857-1943.) and Josie Wolverton (1857-1946), but the record available at Washington's Digital Archives does not mention either of his parents' names.
