She was the daughter of early Willows residents, Marion Pirkey and Josie Jelly Pirkey. Dr. Pirkey was an early day dentist in Willows.
Marion Byrd was a member of the Willows Christian Church. She, her father and mother were all signers of the Articles of Incorporation. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority of the University of Washington.
Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Foster Byrd, Sr. in 1978, and two sons, Carrol Foster Byrd, Jr. in 1966 and Donald Pirkey Byrd in 1935.
She is survived by five grandchildren; Donald Byrd, Barbara Berens, Kimberly Schmies, Maureen Allan, and Susan Pinheiro; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of F.D. Sweet and Son. Interment was in the Willows Cemetery. – Transcribed by M.
