"The Hawk Eye
Cecil Lloyd Bryant, 91, of Morning Sun died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born December 18, 1916, in Morning Sun, he was the son of George and Lulu Wolverton Bryant. On November 6, 1941, he married Harriet Eileen Childerhouse in Canton, Missouri. She died May 10, 1998.

Mr. Bryant worked at J.I. Case and as a rural postal carrier, retiring in 1981 after 33 years of service. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Morning Sun High School. He was a member of Morning Sun United Methodist Church and Morning Sun American Legion Post. He was a former member of Morning Sun City Council, Morning Sun Fire Department and Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and woodworking.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonita J. Wilson of Morning Sun and Rebecca J. Nydam of Salt Lake City; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Bryant of Morning Sun; and three sisters, Shirley Haight of Mediapolis, Darlene Dean of Morning Sun and Maxine Hobbs of Mediapolis.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mr. Bryant will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Morning Sun with the Reverend Kendall Adams officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for United Methodist Church, Morning Sun Fire and Ambulance and Morning Sun Community Building Fund."

Eileen Bryant, 77, of Morning Sun, died Sunday, May 10, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City

Born June 20, 1920, in Columbus City, she was the daughter of Hatty and Jessie Allen Childerhouse. On November 6, 1941, she married Cecil L.(?) Bryant in Canton, Missouri.

Mrs. Bryant was a 1938 graduate of Columbus Junction High School, and graduate of Burlington Beauty Academy. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois, during World War II, and later owned and operated Eileen's Beauty Shop in Morning Sun for 35 years.

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Morning Sun, United Methodist Women, and the TT Card Club for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Bonita J. Wilson of Morning Sun and Rebecca J. Breder of Sandy Utah; five grandchildren; one brother, Farrel Gentzlen of Columubus Junction; and two sisters, Marjorie Wieland of Lone Tree and Carol Ann Howell of Columbus Junction.

She was Preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. today at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun. There will be no family visitation.

The funeral for Mrs. Bryant will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with the Reverend Thelma Subramanian officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Memorials have been established for United Methodist Church and Mellinger Public Library of Morning Sun."
