Dale Owen Bridwell, 67, of Idaho City, passed away Sept. 19, 2006, at home. Dale was born Oct. 28, 1938, at Twin Falls, a son of John and Fern Bridwell.
He was reared and educated at Buhl and served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He married Karen Kendrick at Buhl in 1959, and they raised two boys before divorcing.
Dale returned home to Idaho after retiring from the Navy to live and work in Idaho City. He married Jackie Zufelt, and they raised three sons. Jackie and Dale have lived happily in Idaho City for 30 years.
He was a logger, cook, bartender and worked for the city.
Dale was a great outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish.
His greatest love was for his family and friends that he cared so much for.
He was a member, and past commander, of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 142 in Idaho City.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; his sons and their wives, Bret (& Cheryl) Bridwell of Jerome; Brian (& Betty) Bridwell of Buhl; Chris (& Rachael) Bridwell of Eagle River; and Robert (& Renee) Bridwell of Boise; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard (& Bobbi) Bridwell of Elton, LA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Myra (& Richard) McDonald of Toole, UT; Fern (& Billy) Warren of Twin Falls and Ginger (& Jerry) Seaman of Coeur d'Alene; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents; a brother, Robert; and a son, Kenneth, died earlier.
The funeral will be Sept. 21, at the Ray Robison Community Center in Idaho City. Burial with military honors will be Sept. 22, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor in Garden City.
