"Phylas J. Lose, Age: 97
Jul 20, 1925---May 13, 2023
Phylas J. Lose, 97 yrs., of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on May 13th, 2023. She was born on July 20th, 1925 in Akron, OH to Richard and Agnes Brewer. After she graduated from Akron North High she attended Akron University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Always one to love a man in uniform, she married her high school sweetheart Jack Lose who was an aviation radioman in the Navy. They had four daughters, Kathy, Jan, Barb, and Carol who grew up to the sound of Saturday night bridge games where they were enjoying the company of some of their best friends from Prairie Village.
A true lifetime learner and avid writer, we poured through generations of pictures and documents including journals and essays, snippets of thoughts and feelings, dating back from early childhood to her later years. Travel journals of their trips across Europe were extensive as they immersed themselves in the culture and history of the host country. When home she continued her love of the arts by volunteering at the Nelson Adkins Museum of Art. A self proclaimed “lover of education, water and dark chocolate”.
Mom was an avid swimmer and even skied at Table Rock Lake where they spent many happy days with family and friends at their cabin. Or at their condo in Cape Coral as Captain Jack and First Mate Phylas cruised and fished along the beaches of Sanibel Island. Back at home she’d keep wet in exercises classes at the Y where the chatter of the ladies often drowned out the instructor.
Phylas was predeceased by her husband Jack and daughter Barbara (husband Rich). She is survived by daughters Kathy Easley (Jay), Jan Morehead, and Carol Admire (John). Also by 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. As a lifetime member of Village Presbyterian Church, services will be held in their chapel at 6641 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kansas on June 10th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lakeview Village Foundation, a caring community that she loved."
