Maroa, Ill., May 2-On Thursday April 30, at 12:15 a.m. after an illness of fourteen weeks, Mrs. Penelope Boardwell passed away. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Penelope Stafford was born in Lincolnshire, England, Dec. 1, 1829. Her parents having died, she with a sister and brother came to this country and located in DeWitt county, Il. where she continued to live until three years ago.
On Sept. 30, 1858, she was united in marriage with Isaac Blue, whose death occurred in 1862. About four years later she was married to E.C. Boardwell, since deceased.
In August, 1905, Mrs. Boardwell bought property in Maroa, her late residence, which has since been her home. She is survived by one son, W.H. Blue of Clinton. Mrs. Frank Brake and Joseph Stafford of Maroa are niece and nephew. She united with the Church of England early in life.
Funeral services were held at the home at 10 o'clock Friday morning, conducted by Rev. McKonkey. Interment at Tunbridge cemetery.
