BLACK, Irma Louisa Willhelmina Frevert, 100, Passed away March 10, 2005. She was born November 24, 1904, the daughter of William Heinrich Frevert, Sr. and Ida Oberwitte Frevert, Irma was raised in New Bremen. She married Harold Orel (Blackie) Black in 1929, and he preceded her in death. For 25 years after her husband passed away, Irma was an apartment complex manager for Zieg Realty of Columbus, OH. She managed Highland Park, Wedgewood Park and Plaza Apartments retiring in 1993 at the age of 89. Irma enjoyed a remarkably healthy life physically and mentally and was able to tell stories of her life in great detail as her family prepared a 100th birthday celebration. Her names mean noble, determined in battle and resolute guardian and she certainly was all those things.
She is survived by her son, William A. (Dee) Black and former daughter-in-law, Audrey Black; 4 grandchildren Gail (Hank) Schumacher of Wauconda, IL, Robert A. Black, Lancaster, PA; Lynn (Mike) Jean, Kingman, IN; Michael A. Black, Springboro, OH; 6 great-grandsons and a step great- granddaughter. She is also survived by a step-granddaughter, Melonie (Greg) Stamper, Oxford, OH, a step-great granddaughter and two step-great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Tobias Funeral Home, Third Street, Dayton, Tuesday March 15th from 5-8pm. Funeral Wednesday, March 16th at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vitas Inovative Hospice Care, 11500 Northlake Drive, Suite 400, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
