Rites Friday For C. Larimore
Funeral services will be conducted at Colman United Methodist Church, Colman, S. Dak. on Friday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Wm R. Ellis for Carson F. Larimore who died of cancer at the Flandreau Hospital, June 25, 1973.
He was born in Adams County, Illinois, January 3, 1913, and then moved with his parents to Hand County in 1930 where he graduated from St. Lawrence High School. He was married to the former Helen E. Bingham of St. Lawrence in 1932. He was engaged in farming, the implement business and in later years has been driving a petroleum delivery truck.
He was a member of the Colman United Methodist Church, the I.O.O.F. Colman Chapter, and was active in community affairs.
Survivors include his widow, Helen; one daughter, Mrs. Bill Ulmer (Joyce) of Brookings; two sons, Ray of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Roger of Rockport, Texas; eight grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
Other survivors are his step-mother, Stella Larimore; one sister, Mrs. N.L. Overvaag (Frances) of Dell Rapids; three brothers, Harry Jr. of Seligman, Ariz., Albert of Orlando, Florida and T-Sgt. William of Hill A.F.B., Utah and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen E. Larimore, age 98, of Brookings, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the United Living Community in Brookings. A memorial service and burial at the Colman Cemetery will be held at a family celebration of Helen's life at a later date.
Helen Elizabeth (Bingham) Larimore was born April 4, 1914, in Hand County, South Dakota, to Ernest and June (Taylor) Bingham. After graduation from the St. Lawrence school system she married Carson F. Larimore on June 29, 1932. They farmed in Hanson and Moody Counties and managed a dairy farm in Minnehaha County. Helen worked at bookkeeping jobs in Sioux Falls. They moved back to Moody County where she was a bookkeeper at the Colman Farmers Co-op Elevator and served one term as Moody County Treasurer. They bought and operated Colman Coin Wash. After Carson's death in 1973, Helen worked summer jobs in the National Parks for ten years as bookkeeper, gift shop manager, reservations, and dining room hostess. She spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona.
Helen was interested in music and played piano and organ for church, gave piano lessons, and sang in church choir and community chorus wherever she lived. Reading was a life-long pastime, and she traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and Hawaii. She attended several elder hostels in later years. After living in Mesa and Apache Junction for 22 years, she moved to Brookings in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce (Bill) Roth-Ulmer, of Lake Poinsett; a son, Roger (Cielito) Larimore of Rockport, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jane Larimore of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Robert Roth; a sister; two brothers; and a son, Ray.
