"Note: Researching Clark DeWitt Jr.
There seems to be something of a gap in the census records I can find for Clark Jr., in that after his marriage in 1905 (to Viola Beswick), there is a 1910 US Census listing for Clark Jr.'s household that includes his wife Viola (ten years his junior) and their two young children, Nancy R. and Edward O. After that, the next record I can find for Clark Jr. is the 1930 US Census listing that places him in Colorado, with wife Mary, three years his senior. After that, in the 1940 US Census he's found back in Kansas, with wife Mary (this time listed as two years his senior). I do not have enough information to be certain that the 1930 and 1940 census listings are for the Clark Jr. in our family tree.
I've found no grave listing or death record as of yet for Viola, though I do note that on his WWI draft registration card, Clark Jr. gave his closest relative as "Miss Rebecca DeWitt" in Kansas, which would presumably be his daughter Nancy R. Whether Clark Jr. was a widower or had divorced is unclear at this point.
Additionally, there is a burial listing and a grave photo for a Clark Edward DeWitt in the same cemetery as his father on the FindaGrave.com website, but no birth or death date information. The marker pictured bears an inscription for his service in the Spanish-American War in 1898, so I think it likely that this listing pertains to the correct man.
Thus far, after the 1910 Census record, I've found no further information for his children.
ADDENDUM: A rootsweb.com posted (archived by Ancestry.com) by Barbara Hardwick Collier in 2007 names the children of Clark Edward Jr. as Nancy Rebecca, Edward, Verdie, Claude, and twins Clarence and Clara."
