Betsy Lu Sharpe Berry, age 82 of Agoura Hills, Calif., passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017. She suffered from interstitial lung disease which caused her unexpectedly sudden death. She was born to the late Clayton and Rosella Sharpe of Laceyville on Sept. 26, 1934. Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Wade Berry; and their three children: Lynn, Neal (and Cathy), and Ann. She also leaves her seven precious grandchildren: Allyssa (and Erik), Tyrel, Matthew, Andrew, Amanda, Elizabeth and Chase; and her first great-grandson, Wyatt. Relatives from Pennsylvania include her brother, Harry Sharpe (and Dorothy), nephew (Eric Sharpe) and niece (Donna Avila) with their families, plus numerous loving relatives and friends. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family. Betsy was a highly-respected speech pathologist and educator. She received her doctorate from Pepperdine University, her master's degree from San Francisco State University, and her bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University. For many years she worked in the Conejo Valley Unified School District, where she met her dear friend, Elsa. Betsy was a lifelong learner and continuously sought ways to expand her worldview. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Westlake. Betsy was a past president of the AAUW T.O. Branch, a professor at CSUN, and a volunteer docent at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site. Her interests were expansive and her politics well-known. Wade and Betsy were world travelers and shared many trips with friends and family. Betsy will be remembered at a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 9, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, in Westlake, Calif. The family requests that any donations be sent to the Betsy Berry Memorial Fund for Heifer International : Ending Hunger & Poverty at https://fundraise.heifer.org/BetsyBerry
