Elmer Benedict, 72, Berlin township, died Tuesday evening, July 13, at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for the last two weeks. He was born July 3, 1882, in Berlin township and was a life-long resident of Ionia county and had lived on his present farm on Bennett Road for the last 30 years. He was a member of the Berlin Center Methodist church and the Berlin Center Grange.

Surviving are his wife, Lena; two sons, Charles of Berlin and Paul of Lake Odessa; five grandchildren; one brother, Floyd, of Orange township and one sister Mrs. Anna Williams of Orange.

The body reposes at Morris funeral home in Saranac and funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Le Valley Methodist church with the Rev. Earl Carpenter officiating. Burial will be at Saranac cemetery.

Funeral services for Elmer Benedict, who died Tuesday, were held Friday afternoon at the LeValley church with the Rev. Earl Carpenter officiating. Mrs. Francis Larson was organist. The Berlin Center Grange members attended
in a group.

Pallbearers were Alden Smith, Arthur Smith, Howard Denman, Wayne Sherwood, Ernest Sherwood, and Russell Taylor, all Berlin Center Grange members except Wayne Sherwood.

Burial was at Saranac cemetery. Grange burial services were conducted at graveside by Russell Taylor and Mrs. Alden Smith, master and chaplain of the Berlin Center Grange.

Mrs. Lena Benedict, 78, a lifelong resident of Berlin township, died early Tuesday morning at Brightview rest home in Detroit. She was born in Berlin township, December 3, 1883, the daughter of Charles and Jane Sible. She was a
member of Berlin Center church, Ladies Aid, Berlin Center Grange and Progressive club of Berlin. Survivors include two sons, Charles Benedict of Saranac, and Paul of Detroit; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren,
and nieces and nephews.

The body will arrive at Morris funeral home Tuesday afternoon and funeral arrangements will be announced.
